Chicken Hatching Program & St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations!
Today was an extra special day at Piney Lakes Childcare as we celebrated two exciting events that had everyone buzzing with joy and excitement!
First up, our highly anticipated Chicken Hatching Program arrived! The children were thrilled to see the eggs arrive and eagerly began learning about the fascinating process of how baby chicks hatch. It was amazing to see their faces light up with curiosity as they gathered around the incubator, watching the eggs gently rock and wobble. The excitement is building, and we can’t wait to see our little feathered friends make their debut over the next few days. This hands-on experience provides a fantastic opportunity for the children to connect with nature, observe life cycles, and gain a deeper appreciation for animals.
But that’s not all! Today was also St. Patrick’s Day, and we couldn’t resist joining in on the festive spirit. The children came to daycare dressed in their best green outfits, filling the rooms with a sea of emerald hues. From shamrocks to leprechauns, everyone had a great time showing off their St. Patrick’s Day spirit.
Of course, no celebration is complete without some delicious food! We treated the children to a variety of green-themed treats, from spinach muffins to kiwi fruit. The children loved trying new foods and enjoyed sharing their festive snacks with friends. It was the perfect way to add a little extra fun to the day while promoting healthy eating.
But the most exciting activity of the day was the Green Goo Sensory Play! The children had an absolute blast creating and exploring this fun, slimy concoction. With a little cornstarch, green food coloring, and water, we made a gooey, squishy substance that was both fun and educational. The children used their hands to explore the texture, discovering how the goo felt both solid and liquid at the same time. This hands-on activity not only brought smiles but also encouraged fine motor skills, sensory exploration, and imaginative play.
It was a day full of learning, laughter, and creative fun. Watching the children experience the wonder of life with the chicken hatching program, embrace the festive spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, and dive into the squishy world of green goo reminded us all of the magic of childhood. These moments of play and discovery are what make each day special.
